fly me up to where you are above the distant stars
bloody hell, it was freezing. but being the ass that he was, stephan thought it would be warm outside and he wouldn't need a jacket. obviously he wasn't aware it was the middle of december and the snow was laying thick on the ground. he was wearing a pair of jeans and a strange red-ish colored t-shirt. why did he have to even go outside in the first place? he thought about the lovely, warm hufflepuff common room with the giant fire situated in the middle of the room. oh, how he wished he was back inside. but he was sitting on a bench, in the courtyard, in the middle of winter, dying from the cold. the goosebumps were thick on his arms and the hair on his body pricked up.
he began to shiver. so to take his mind off how cold it was, he took his ipod from his jean pocket and stuck the earphones deep into his ears. the my chemical romance song was now blasting in his ears which covered up the sound of the deafening wind. he began to rub his arms quickly with his hands and they began to warm up a little, but as he slowed down, his arms became cold again. he managed to close his eyes and hum along quietly to the song he was listening to, not thinking of the cold weather anymore. soon he was beginning to forget about how cold it was, and began to feel quite warm. it was until he remembered this that he was dragged from the dreaming trance he was in to come straight back to reality, and to the snow.
stephan sighed and finally gave up. he had come to the courtyard to get away from things and to have some time on his own, but obviously it wasn't going to be a very enjoyable time. he couldn't relax with the weather and his music was failing to calm him down. he stood up from the frozen bench he was sitting on and began to trod through the thick snow in the direction of the school. he hated hogwarts. it was an okay school and all that but he hated it. he hated the classes, the professors, and most of the students. he wanted to have been able to attend any other school but this one, but he was stuck here. as he was walking out of the courtyard, he accidentely bumped into someone without noticing. ''oh, sorry about that,'' he said, turning around to see who it was.

"Aaah!" Vicky let out a short scream as she fell towards the floor. Youch. The winter months never let Victoria forget how painful it was to go from feet to backside on a slippery ground. The hufflepuff attempted to pull herself up from the ground, but whenever she managed to bring her body above her feet, she would slip again. When she finally managed to get up, she heard a voice.
Oh, sorry about that. Looking for the first time at the person who hand bumped into her, she recognised him as several things. Firstly, she knew he was in both her year, and her house. The prefect badge on his chest reminded her of his name, and as she looked at him properly, she recognised him as attractive. "It was bound to happen sooner or later." She said to him.

stephan looked wearily down at the girl he had just knowcked clean off her feet and onto the ground. he had always been clumbsy and now this had happened as a result. he never really did pay attention to where he was walking. It was bound to happen sooner or later, he heard the girl say and rolled his eyes. he rocognised her as being in his year, and also in the same house. funnily enough she was also the hufflepuff prefet; just as he was. small world. stephan raised an eyebrow as he remembered he had seen her several times in the common room as he had been reading one time or another.
he held his hand out to help her up. ''i'm stephan,'' he said kindly, trying to be as nice as possible to show he was genuinly sorry. he really was a nice person deep inside, but some people had told him he had the personality of a slytherin at times. stephan knew he could lose his temper quite easily, but he had never thought of himself as being bad enough to be a slytherin. he had just always pictured himself as the good guy. he smiled at the girl as he waited for her response, wanting to know her name.

"Stephan. Nice to meet you. Reed, isn't it?" She asked him, before replying with her own name. "Vicky. Bennet that is." Vicky looked at him again, allowing her eyes to drift down over his torso and arms. Ooh, we do like this one. Attitude and Appearance. She thought, before looking back up at Stephan's face. He was quite a bit taller than her, about 7 inches taller at that.

stephan nodded as the girl asked if his surname was reed. ''yes, it is,'' he said simply. he knew that she was aware of who he was, obviously since they were both prefects. he had known that she was called vicky, but she never did know her surname. but as she introduced herself, he then realised that he had known her name. ''it's nice to meet you too,'' he added, smiling at her. he helped vicky to her feet and glanced around quickly.
there was nobody else around. maybe because it was so cold and everybody else was wise enough to stay indoors, sitting comfortably in front of the fire. ''so tell me, what's a girl like yourself doing out in this weather?'' he asked. stephan was quite charming and he always remembered his manners. he was very well brought up and it was something he liked about himself; how polite he was to others.

"Nice to meet you too. Say, why don't you get yourself logged onto a computer." She said, summoning a small piece of parchment and a quill, and scribbling down a url. "Add yourself as a friend to my Myspace." She finished, handing Stephan the piece of parchment. Then he asked her why she was outside.
"Boredom Buster. It's cold inside aswell, so I thought I may aswell be outside. Plus I left one of my textbooks out here." She said, also noticing that they were alone in the courtyard, and probably the grounds aswell. "And may I ask a fine gentleman like you the same question?"

stephan's eyebrow quirked up slightly as vicky had told him to log himself into a computer and add her on myspace. he had his own myspace but he hardly ever used it, but he figured that would soon change. he also had instant messenger which he did use at times; it was a lot handier than myspace. stephan took the piece of parchment from vicky and looked at the url she had written down. he folded it and put it safely in his pocket.
stephan then listening intently as vicky explained why she had come outside in the first place and that it was cold inside aswell. he nodded slightly and then scratched his head as she asked why he was also outside. ''um.. well i was supposed to be meeting someone here,'' he said, pausing for a moment. he knew this would probably throw vicky off completely as she may have thought he was meeting a girl. but he liked her and soon finished his sentence. ''but it turns out, he was busy. a friend and i were going to go for a run,'' he added, revealing the person he was meeting was in fact one of his old friends.

Vicky nodded as she listened to Stephan's reply. "I can run." She said with a smile. This guy seemed really decent, someone Vicky wanted to get to know a bit better. Well, a lot better actually, to tell the truth, she felt she was starting to develop a crush. She brushed the thought from her mind. She needed to be friends with him first.

fly me up to where you are above the distant stars
stephan was beginning to really like this girl. she was too good to be true. most of the girls stephan knew were always drooling over him and wanting to be around him all the time. they were nasty and selfish and he hated being around them. but with vicky, stephan felt like he had known her for much longer than he actually had. she was a really nice girl and he was happy to be around her. she didn't make him want to scream or run away from her. she was the kind of person he could see himself being really good friends with.
''you like running?'' he asked. stephan was a bit of an exercise freak. he ran every morning as well as doing sit ups and push ups. he worked hard, and it showed from his well toned torse and his muscular arms. he wasn't the kind of person who would be sitting around all day and eating junk food. stephan took control of his life and took care of himself. it's not as though he never ate junk food. stephan eats like a pig; but whatever crap he eats, he always burns it off with a good run.

"I'll run if you do. I'm not best runner, but i'm not the worst." She said to him, flicking her wand at her shoes, turning them into trainers. "I'll always love Transfiguration for simple spells like that. Shoe change in seconds." She muttered to herself, but loud enough that Stephan would be able to hear. Vicky began to jog on the spot.

stephan laughed as vicky said she wasn't the best running, but she wasn't the worst. ''a bit like me then,'' he said, rolling his eyes. he watched as she changed her shoes into trainers and he gave her a little applause. ''impressive,'' he said sarcastically. he was wearing his track bottoms and a pair of old trainers; his notorious orangey red shirt and no jacket. surprise, surprise. well, he had to look on the bright side. at least if he ran he could warm up a little.
during his conversation with vicky, stephan had completely forgot all about how cold he was until he began to think about it again. he took a deep breath and exhaled. ''you ready then?'' he asked her as he stretched his legs a little to get warmed up. he winked at vicky before taking off, running through the courtyard. he started off in a jog so as she could catch up with him, but since he was so cold, he began to run a little faster.

Vicky gasped as Stephan took off, before she pushed off from the ground and began to run after him. She wasn't wearing the best clothes to run in, but then, she didn't run that often, so she didn't bother getting a stock of tracksuits. She managed to catch up, with him, though she was still a few feet behind him. Her body began to warm up, only the tinest bit, but it was warmer all the same.

stephan laughed as he turned around to notice vicky was a little behind him, but in a matter of time she had soon caught up to him. ''come on, that's it,'' he said, encouraging her. they ran for quite a while before he had led them to the lake. they weren't exactly close to the water, but close enough to see how beautiful it was. although it was frozen over, you could see the ice on the top of it glistening from the rays of the sun beaming off it.
stephan sat down on the cold ground. even though he had been running for a while, he hadn't even broken a sweat. he took a deep breath of the cool air and smiled. ''beautiful, isn't it?'' he said to vicky. he had always loved the lake, and the though of not knowing exactly what lies beneath the surface. he was intrigued by that mystery and had researched the creatures of the deep but never really seen anything in reality to prove his investigations.

As they stopped running, Vicky's breathing was slightly heavier, but that was to be expected. She looked out over the lake, smiling to herself as she saw it was frozen over. She looked at Stephan, before replying. "Yes. It is. I wouldn't have though it would be able to freeze over." She said to him, before flicking her wand in the direction of her feet again. The trainers became ice skates and she walked over to the lakes edge. Standing on the ice, she glided out a couple of meters, before turning around gracefully and looking at Stephan. "Gonna join me?"

stephan gazed at the frozen lake and the beautiful surroundings. he had forgotton all about how cold he was, for running had warmed him up a little. the sun had come out now too, and it had stopped snowing so that had helped a little aswell. he smiled at vicky and watched as she changed her shoes into ice skates before proceeding towards the lake. when she called out for him to join her, stephan thought for a moment.
although it was pretty freezing before, it wouldn't have been cold enough to completely and securely freeze the lake. maybe just the surface of it had been frozen and might not have been able to support their weight. ''vicky, i..'' he began, only wanting to make sure she was safe. but as he glanced at her smiling face, he reached in a got his wand from his pocket and flicked it towards his feet, changing his jogging trainers into skates. he walked up beside vicky and smiled. ''let's go then,'' he said, and skated out onto the ice.
